Oaxacan Wood Carvings
One of the most important parts of Oaxaca's arts and crafts scene is its wood carvings. Oaxacan carvings range from guitars to masks, toys and games and are usually painted in bold, vibrant colors. Copal wood, which is native the region, is used to create Alebrijes. These hand-carved creations generally represent imaginary or mythical animals and come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
