The Guelaguetza is a one-of-a-kind, all-out celebration of Oaxaca's cultural heritage that has only in recent years made a blip on the international tourist radar.

Rooted in pre-Columbian indigenous celebrations worshipping Centéotl, the goddess of corn, the present-day Guelaguetza festival brings together communities throughout the state of Oaxaca to celebrate their rich heritage through music, dress, street processions, dance, food and general merry-making.
